There’s effects that defy science, rational and reason. They surpass the constraints of textbooks, usurping any mathematical equation and yet they persist. Take for example the dating theory “you need a date to get a date.” It’s the infallible way how one scheduled date suddenly snowballs into multiple suitors. Or take the Calvin Klein Obsession men’s cologne effect. Zookeepers at the Bronx Zoo found that Jaguars liked to lick, kiss, rub and linger near anything sprayed with the cologne versus other fragrances. (Attention male readers: women are more discerning than these cats so don’t shower yourself in this cologne hoping for any attraction!). In previous economic downturns, researcher identified the lipstick effect: a double digit rise in lipstick sales while other beauty products experienced a downturn. The logic economists argued was that lipsticks were a low cost item that instantly made women feel better...that was of course until the current recession when the lipstick effect just wore off.Well thanks to the man responsible for bringing sexy back in the ‘90’s (no it’s not JT!), we might experience a new lipstick effect otherwise known as the Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color Collection. Rich colors, creamy textures and classically sophisticated packaging will set your heart a flutter! Launched on June 1st this 12 shade collection has something for every lady. From a feminine, pinkish nude aptly called Blush Nude to a more vampy, sexy Black Orchid, each lipstick will envelope your lips with a nurturing veil of soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil. Made with intense color pigments the color goes on the way you would expect and stays true hours later. If that’s enough the lipsticks are housed in an all ivory case gilded with gold accents (would you expect anything else from the man responsible for those iconic sunglasses?). Now I know the price tag is hefty at a cool $45 (available at Saks, Neiman’s and Bergdorf) but you deserve to treat yourself every once in awhile and who knows the Tom Ford lipstick effect could equal Hollywood smooch sessions and perhaps even a promotion thanks to your stellar performance on the client presentation!
Usage tip: Make sure when you visit the beauty counter to really spend some time with the shades. Be realistic about the colors you gravitate toward and what your comfort level is with hue intensity. Think of this as an investment and you deserve great returns.
The result: Remember what Gucci under Tom Ford did for your wardrobe? Then imagine what he can do for your lips!
